Default To Mask or Not to Mask?

Gonna go look at and most likely buy an 07 GPW S2k tomorrow. It'll be a 450 mile trip for her on a 20' flat car hauler. Do you think it's overkill to blue tape the front considering it's just being towed?

What say you???

Why not? You'll certainly feel better even though you'll be driving it a lot closer to the ground. Blue "painters" tape comes in wide rolls and should come off without residue.

If the front is pristine, then yes. If the front is already chipped/dinged, then no. Are you doing the round trip as a day trip or are you spending the night somewhere? Parking security?

Single 6.5 hour drive home as long as I don't zombie out. Don't think my wife will be comfortable driving with the trailer.

If you are driving a dirt road in Iceland, good idea.
Interstate in the US, no.

You are far, far more likely to nail the front end on one of those satan designed, infernal low curbs or concrete parking blocks.

some good 3M painters tape will be no problem, and it's easy. absolutely zero residue or chemical reaction with your clear so no worries. i've used it several times for headlight restorations on our 3 cars and such

Personally I'd just drive the car back home, unless there's paperwork/coverage issues preventing you to.

No mask. My Silverado provided the lead block and I wanted to get the 6.5 drive home going…
