Default Maximum passenger size?

I have to make a trip with a relatively large passenger (male, large) that's about 50 miles and he wants to go in the S. I don't know if he'll fit but I'm picking him up from a place where he doesn't have a car so he either does or doesn't. I'd guesstimate 6'2" and maybe 300lbs. Or 280lbs. Not sure. Maybe a 44 or 46 waist size.

Should I just tell him he won't fit? Can he? What are the limits? I'm the same height but much slimmer so I don't have a problem fitting. I'd prefer to tactfully suggest that we find alternate transportation if this really isn't going to work.

I've had my roommate in my car before...6'3" 310lbs....VERY TIGHT. I noticed that he creased the seat bolster too, but it sprang back after a few days. It will probably be a very uncomfortable ride for him.

Hi:
Keep in mind the max weight you are supposed to have in the car is 400 pounds. I'm sure lots of people will say its fine to go over this limit, but I'm of the old school that says Honda made it 400 pounds max for a reason.

Height is not the problem here - My son is 6'7" and he fits in the passenger seat (can't even close the door on the driver's side however)........He weighs about 200 and I think you friend's wieght (300+) will be a big problem!!!!

Have had an auto-cross instructor at about 6'5" 300# in the passenger seat with me at 6'2" and 245# driving. The car did not seem to mind. Have to believe that any 300 pounder will not be comfortable for a long trip, but he might enjoy it as a one time ride living the life of a sardine.

As long as you don't come up on a 350Z trying to run with you, you'll be alright. But the torqueless wonder will be really straining with all that weight. You will feel like you're driving a yugo. I drove someone around once that was 320 lbs and the car handled awfully.

With myself at 6'2", 210 and my brother at 6'4", 300, its REALLY tight in the shoulders. I wouldn't want to ride more than 30 minutes or so like that. But the car doesn't seem bothered by the weight too much.

I took my 6'10" friend for a ride around a few blocks and it was tight! He had to accordian his body into the seat and pull his legs up towards his chest. I had to pray that the airbag didn't explode into his kneecaps. He had only two real problems: 1) his forehead was over the top of the windshield with the top down 2) it was tight enough with the seat all the way back that the stupid platic/plastic squeak was driving me nuts.

It was worth it though. He left with a grin ear to ear after only a mile
