I am about to replace my rear tires and was wondering if anyone in the area had a recommendation of a shop who knows what their doing in putting new tires on and balancing them? I don't want any scratches on the wheels...

Thanks, much appreciated!

Radial Tire in Silver Spring not only has great prices, but have always given me great service. I've used them on several occasions for my MR2 and they have never scratched the wheels. They also did a great job balancing the tires... which is key for a smooth drive (especially in the MR2). They also had prices for the Pirelli P7000's that were comparable to the Tire Rack.

Koons of Manassas (Honda) did a very good job mounting my rear tires on my S2000 that I purchased thru the Tire Rack, however they charged me a surplus because "the tires were oversized and took longer to mount". They wouldn't let me have Tire Rack deliver directly to their location though. The tires they put on were balanced perfectly as well.

Laurel Toyota (Carmax) has a very good service department as well. I have had them mount and balance tires for my MR2 and they have also taken extremely good care of my car. I'm not sure if they'd work on other car manufacturers, but it is worth a shot. They didn't have a problem with my MR2 wheels (16x7.5 - 225x45x16) and didn't charge me extra for the size. They also let me have the Tire Rack deliver directly to their shop.

I second Radial Tire - very professional, very knowledgeable. They have been helping me out with an issue I have and I have not even bought anything from them!

Merchants Tire did an excellent job for me. They have locations all over the area.

I third Radial Tire. I've been using them for years and have no problem justifying the 50min trip from way out here in the boonies!

I decided to have Koons change the tires on the S2000, just because they have been awesome (service wise) with my S2000 so far. Don't get me wrong, they did an excellent job with the tires... but they charged me $60 bucks to mount, balance and dispose of the old. A bit pricey in my book but I didn't complain because they are getting me a new rear window under warranty.

Back in October Radial tire charged me 184.25 for a new Pirelli P7000Z (225-45-16) mounted and balanced. I didn't have that particular wheel mounted on my MR2 at the time, so I just dropped off the wheel and picked it up when they were finished. Tire Rack's price for the tire right now is $130, but I remember checking it last year and that tire was priced at $168. Plus they had the tire in stock... which is unheard of at most tire places. I also talked with Sam and he has been very helpful. The ONLY problem I had with their shop is parking... they are SO popular that it is near impossible to find a place to park at their shop.

I cannot remember what Laurel Toyota charged me, but I don't remember it being outrageous. Their new facility on route one is definately top notch!

Did you put the Pirelli's on your S2000?

No... I ordered the Potenza's from the Tire Rack for the S2000. The P7000's were for my MR2. Personally, I like the P7000's better. They seem to be more predictable in turns.
