me and my bad luck...
OK. I have a MY01 Silverstone S2K. About 2 weeks ago some drunk idiot ran his car into my parked s2k and did some major body damage to my rear bumper, left tail light, and the left rear fender (bumper and tail light had to be replaced). Luckily his car was stuck and he paid up full cash to fix everything ($1600). I left my car at a body shop and a week later I went to go pick it up. As I start to drive home, my car starts making the weirdest noise. Something was wrong. My clutch didn't feel right, the engine felt retarded and the engine was making a very strange noise. I drive back to the body shop, and they can't figure it out either. We open the hood, and after some poking around, we checked the engine oil...it was about half empty...I honestly have no idea how or where the engine oil went, but there is not much I can do about it now. Things are very bad right now. My crankshaft and bearings are tore up, and I shouldn't even be driving my car at this point. BUT, the body shop owner insists that I fill up the rest of the oil with regular 10w-30 to drive home. Too bad I had no idea how unbelievably retarded and bad for my car this was...I just happened to kno a mechanic about 5mins away, so I attempt to drive there, and right before I get there, my car shuts off and refuses to start up again. Me and my friend push my car to the mechanic and all he can do is shake his head in disappointment. He says that he's gonna have to take the engine out, replace the crankshaft and bearings, and rebuild the whole engine...something about the engine oil too...that's about 4-5grand to fix...Bottom line, I got royally FU****. I'm 21, a student, and I cannot believe this just happened to me...I have no idea what I'm suppose to do at all...anyone have any pointers or some experience they want to share with me? Please help me out!!!
the mechanic suggested that I try to find a s2k in a junkyard so i can take the engine instead of his rebuilding my whole engine...

As for not knowing where the oil went, s2ks burn oil and you should check the oil level everytime you fill up your gas to make sure that you are the proper level.
What do you mean rebuild the whole engine? It just seems that you have to replace the bearings on the crankshaft and perhaps replace the crankshaft itself.

1. Did you have your car looked at by a mechanic after the drunk hit your car to access if the damage was really only $1600? Depends on how hard the drunk hit your parked car.
2. If it's NOT your fault you should always deal with insurance. I hope you went through insurance and not under the table settlement.
3. You left your car for a week at the shop to be repaired. Was the car running fine when you left it? Do you trust the shop? Is it possible they did the damage?
I'm just brainstorming here... but sounds like you should do some backtracking....contact your insurance and the person who hit your car and start from square one.
Good luck.

Agreed. BUT, aren't most liability policies rendered null and void if you're drunk when you cause the damage, meaning, essentially, that the dude had no insurance?
Either way..... better to let the system work then to cut corners and possibly screw YOURSELF for no reason.
If YOU carry insurance, then you have uninsured motorist insurance. Meaning, your insurance company will pick up the tab, and go after the uninsured (drunk driver in your case). This also means you don't shell out any money for the deductable.
Good luck!
