Default Military - US Spec S2000 shipped to the UK

Some of you might remember I was looking into picking up a low mileage GT-R R32 once I PCS to the UK. My S2000 is almost paid off now and I was thinking about just taking it with me to the UK. I posted in the San Antonio forum asking what needs to be changed to take my car the UK but none of the military guys knew. Do you guys know what modifications I'll need to make (if any) to take my car to the UK? Any input is appreciated military members.

If this is in the wrong section mods please feel free to move. Thank you.

I wouldn't want to drive a left hand drive car in the UK. Unless you are importing a mustang GT.
Why not just buy a JDM S2000 in the UK.

Because I owe less then 2,000 for the car. Plenty of military guys do it - I'd rather have a paid off s2000 and travel with it than buy a RHD S2000 that I can't bring back to the states.

how long are you getting stationed there? I honestly think that you should just wait and save your money. I'm currently stationed in Okinawa, and will be leaving for a MEU a little while down the road, but in all honesty I think I would rather just save my money. Having a car here would be nice, but its just not worth the money to buy a car here or ship my old car over here, but thats not what your asking.
your better off buying a car in the UK and just selling it before you PCS/EAS.

A friend just took his S2000 to Mildy/Lakenheath and the changes sound minimal. Add a foglight, re-aim the headlights and get the emissions system inspected. Of course there are mechanic's shops right outside the gate that do pretty much nothing but these conversions.

Make sure you review all the PCS rules about what can be shipped and how. You can always go sit down with TMO. I thought I read something about you can only bring a car back if you shipped one there in the first place.

Hope that helps!

Id just leave the car in storage in the US.

You could just buy a beater out there and sell it. Since this location is a PCS, there is already a good chance for plenty of cars out there that keep getting sold between service members in the same boat as you.

But, every country I have been to seem to have better public transportation than the US so I never bought a car and was PCS overseas for 6 years non-consecutively.

Ill be on a MEU in a few months also but I am provided transportation. A BOAT

I don't know what needs to be done but I want to encourage you to do it. One weekend drive it down to the Ring and do some laps!

I thought some military folks keep their US plates and don't have to do anything. Maybe I'm wrong.

you can pick up a AP1 S2000 in UK for about 3500-5500 pounds ($5600- $8800). UK spec or JDM not much difference. I got JDM and paid about £5.5k that was about 2 years ago.
If you bring yours here there wont be alot to do 3-4 things might need changing or installing.

I read something about a rear fog, and head light must have a certain angle - and something about amber turn signals.
