Hey dude,
I understand that you have the Spoon Headers in your car and have had experience in cars with the Mugen Headers as well.

Simple question. I money was no object. Which of the two will you rate better? They both costs the same to purchase from where I am. I will be ordering in 2 days time

Both are the best money can buy. I would have to ask you what your customization goals are. I love my setup (Mugen/Spoon hybrid), and I hold both Spoon and Mugen in the highest regards.

Here's what I say to my friends when they visit me and we chat about mods:

If your mods' future involves ECU upgrade, then go with the brand of the ECU (unless you go all out and put a fully programmable ECU in the car ). For example, if you go with Mugen ECU, go with a full Mugen setup (intake, header, exhausts, etc). If you go with Spoon ECU, go with the full Spoon setup (intake, header, cams, exhausts, etc). I understand Chris' argument over the differences of cars on a dyno, and he's absolutely correct. I'm equally impressed by Prolene's setup and (of course) mine, and I must say it's really a toss up since the differences are subtle (but the differences do exist). I posted the dyno charts and numbers a few days ago, and I discussed at length what I felt and thought about the numbers. Take a look at the charts, take a look at the numbers. Talk to people like Chris, UtahS2K, RT, UL, Nick, Tom, Jason, and many other very knowledgeable guys on our board to see what their interpretation of the dyno charts are. Perhaps you'll find a happy medium as I have found.

Lastly, don't forget that Giampiero has his setup coming up. Now the most interesting (and exciting - to me at least) part of all this is the differences in design philosophies in the headers. I've asked many times what kind of power curve (not necessarily numbers) each type will produce, and it seems now we know at least 2 curves. So GREG! FIX THAT DAMN CAR AND GET THEM HEADER/EXHAUST DYNOED! Look at Spoon's header design, look at Mugen's design, and look at Giampiero's design, you'll note a very significant difference in architecture of the piping length, size, type, etc.

Personally I don't plan on switching ECUs, so the fuel mixture issue at 6800RPMs on my car will have to be taken care of by either the VAFC or the FPR like Prolene has done on his very successfully. Once I have either one of the mods done I'll get it dynoed again and see what happens. Honestly I think if you want lots of power for a few grand, go with the SC, and I will always say that. But again, customization means you do what you want to your car however way it pleases you, and that's one of the most important thing we should keep in mind.

I hope I can try and be as neutral as possible and be as informative as possible (and have as much fun as possible in the process with y'all), but as we've seen in the recent past that would be a rather difficult thing to do when each one of us have differing opinions on these very fine products. I'll admit I have my leanings and preferences (silver, BTW, is the best color!), but I will try my damnest to be straight forward.

Hope you make the choice that pleases you the most.

The Mugen manifold saves about 9lbs. I like the heat shield, and the equal sized pipes, but as others said, you can't really go wrong with any of them.
