Moleman,

I think your description is not really a HP vs. Torque comparison, but rather the nature of Honda's vtec system. All of the big numbers for the S2000 such as peak torque, peak HP, and our very flat torque curve all come post vtec, when the good cam is in action.

Where we lose in a drag race is in first gear, getting up to that magic vtec point. After that, once the S2000 is in vtec it can hang with and/or pull on damn near every hot car out there. We should all remember that vtec is not a technology that delivers more power, it is a technology that enables efficiency of fuel, emissions, and low speed drivability in a powerful engine.

I've seen an indicated 161, but no one knows weather or not I was actually going that speed, most probably not because of spedo error. However, I know my spedo is only reading 1mph fast at 70, I've had several local cops radar me. Problem is, none of them will let me run it flat out and radar me, well, without taking me to jail that is .

Interesting article; however, I'm now so tired from riding my bicycle that I think I'll go to bed for a week. Seriously, very informative article. Thank you.

I think I got it. Torque is good...the same amount of torque at higher RPMs is better.
