I was detailing my 3-day old Sebring Silver for the first time yesterday, and I happened to discover that some of the bolts used to secure the front bumper to the underside body of the car are missing! You can't see them unless you look underneath. The bolts are black with 10mm heads. It looks like there are supposed to be nine in total, and I'm missing the last three on the right. One of the bolts was actually sticking halfway out, but it just needed tightening.

I've called the dealer to send me replacements bolts. Not sure if the dealer somehow took them out and forgot to replace them, or came like this from the factory.

However, looking at the inside of the front wheel wells, there is a hole on both left and right wheel wells on the fender. The holes face the tread of the front wheels. Are there supposed to be screws or bolts used to secure the bumper to the body? I'm not sure, especially after finding the missing bolts from the underside. Can anyone check and let me know? Hopefully I've described it properly.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I actually meant front bumper, not spoiler. However, your link was very useful. I wonder if the hole at the side of the bumper is only for securing a add-on spoiler?

Thanks

I recently installed a lip on my front bumber on my 2-month old S2000 and noticed that I was missing two bolts. I assumed they fell off, but maybe they're just not installed at the factory. In any event, the Coastal Metals lip came with all of the screws (longer ones than from the factory).

I would HIGHLY recommend the lip as you WILL scrape your bumper up eventually. Better to scrape an $80 lip than a ??? hundred dollar bumber!

$80 bucks for a Front OEM Lip, that is dirt cheap. Most if not all is $250 - $300. I hope you meant that you installed a front bumper protector. IF it is the Front OEM Lip, you gotta let us know where you got it. used? new?

thanks,

Maybe you can better describe where these 9 bolts are that hold the front bumper to the body of the car. If others are also missing bolts, then maybe it is time for an alert notice for everyone to check their cars for missing bolts or at least tighten them if they are loose. But first, tell us where the missing bolts are.
