For the past couple of months I've been using the oversized Mobil-1 oil filter. I believe it's the M-106, not sure though. Yesterday, I found a puddle of oil in my garage while backing out. I was lucky because it barely started leaking; I lost only about a quart through the filter.

Check the filter tightness on your filters guys.

Do you oil the gasket on the new filter before you screw them on? I've never had one come loose and only put them on hand tight. In fact, I need a filter wrench to get them unscrewed.

Oversize is M1-105. OEM is M1-104.

I use the oversized STP version. If you search, there's a breakdown of a few filters and the STP was pretty close to the Mobile 1. Plus it's cheaper. For some, $$$ might not matter, but the amount of miles I drive my oil gets changed about once a month.

One more thing. I always spread a layer of oil over the gasket.

Anyone been using the Fram X2 (besides me)? Before you tell me how crappy Fram filters are, this one is a different breed.. At least from what I can see.

Yeah I did oil the gasket.. I never had a problem with the 104. Tried out the 105 and almost blew my F20C.

Something tells me that the oversized one isn't worth the risk.
