Modding MY05 bodywork round exhaust? (Invidia!)
Hi All
Moving from UK spec: MY02 -> MY05
Taking an Invidia exhaust with me. (Loud, loud
)
Invidia fitted MY02 perfect.
Invidia hangs under MY05 just perfect. however
On MY05 the exhaust openings in the rear valance/bumper/fender seem further apart than MY02.
Exhaust silencers/mufflers knock on the lower, inside, underneath edges of the bumper.
Options include
1. Professional mod to Invidia system. Expense, hassle, need to take it off and refit it again etc. Not desirable.
2. Put a couple of steel pipes / scaffold poles, down the exit bores of the Invidia and pull them apart. Downside: Might crack the welds ...
3. Easier way. Remove the little bits on the lower underside inside of the bumper where they knock on the exhaust. These bits are covered in a rubber-strip type of thing, so it should in theory be an easy job.
My choice today on my new 05 is #3. Don't want to do it myself with a hacksaw ... So thinking about having my local friendly bodyshop make a neat job of rounding off those darned little corners and tidying up the rubber strip.
Q. Anybody else had this problem and/or fixed it?
Any traps awaiting the unwary?
Many thanks
