An occasional problem on this vehicle is failure of the Evaporative Emissions Bypass Solenoid. Failure of the Evaporative Emissions Bypass Solenoid will cause the check engine light to illuminate. The cost to replace the Evaporative Emissions Bypass Solenoid is estimated at $52.52 for parts and $32.50 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Clicking on the little yellow exclamation point for any of those years listed (00-02) reveals the following information:
Basically, the one problem that MSN is reporting is that 00-02's seem to have the common CEL (Check Engine Light) problem that is caused by the Gas Cap Issue (wherein the gas cap comes loose and the car thinks there is an evap. emissions leak).
If this is the only problem that they are reporting, then this is great!
There is very little you need to worry about in this regard - that CEL for the gas cap is common, easily fixable, and will not impact the driveability of the car.

Things to consider though. If you drive with your Check Engine Light on all the time, it may be hiding a more serious problem (as your CEL will not re-trigger itself if it is already on for another reason). If you suspect the loose gas cap is causing all your problems, you can buy a new one, which often helps.
You might also want to experiment by resetting the CEL by pulling the Backup Fuse (search for instructions) or by going through a minimum of 3 driving cycles (a full start up, engine warm up, drive, engine cooldown) to see if the light resets (turns off on it's own). If it does, after tightening the cap, then you know it's the cause.
People often claim to get their CEL "code" pulled for free from Autozone, which could confirm that your problem is caused by the gas cap. I have had this issue myself. The code it triggered for me was: p1456 - Evaporative emission control system leak detected.
Always be careful, and alert, but if it really is your cap, you're fine.

....just take it to the nearest Autozone, or Advanced Discount, and they should have an OBD II reader. Plugs in, and displays text of exactly what is causing the CEL. Sister's Civic had a faulty O2 sensor....told us what it was and which one to replace as well....they sell for only like $30 I think...John
