Default Modified Exhaust Question?

I am currently running two Magnaflow 5x8 oval mirror finished mufflers with a 2.25" inlet and 4" double walled outlet. Becasue of budget when I initially did the exhaust I opted to not go with a catback system. I love the sound of my Magnaflows but continually regret not spending the extra dollars on a whole sytstem.

I paid $78 for each muffler and $90 for the install, which wasn't a bad deal.
My question is how beneficial is a 2.5" pipe opposed to the factory 2.25"? Will I gain more horsepower? Will I lose back pressure? The factory pipes are stainless steel and mandrel bent. Would I benefit by replacing my OEM reonator with a Magnaflow resonator? I have an Injen CAI installed and am hoping to add a header in the coming weeks.

I wouldn't mind the exhaust note being a bit louder. I was considering the Invidia group buy, but I am not completely sold. I love the build quality, but I think it might be a little louder than I want. Also, I don't like the look from the side, the muffler drops down instead of being tucked like the Magnaflow. I want to do it right , but I don't want to spend money for little to no gain.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If I decide to purchase. I would like too with the Spugen bolt on setup using either the muffler like mine or the oval tip. Any Spugen owners, I would love some feedback. Thier product looks great.

I have Spugen oval muffler with oval tips. I had them weld the exhaust to the OEM resonator to reduce sound and it is still loud. Your saying you have stock piping all the way to the mufflers and it is not loud? My car is perfect when cold, nice growl but when it warms up it gets loud.

The Spugen exhaust is great whichever one you choose. Sounds great and not too loud. Plus Duc and Nathan are really cool guys. They will treat you right.

I would say it has a nice tone at idle and lower speeds. When VTEC engages it is loud. The majority of the noise is the CAI.

00S2K01S4 - your car is the one that keeps making me reconsider the full catback setup. It looks great. Mine looks about the same just not as complete from underneath. Are you running a resonator? Do you have an intake and/or header?

I also have the Spugen Oval/Oval setup, but with the full cat-back kit. It loud. Sounds awesome. I have considered the OEM resonator weld job to quite it down, but I'm afraid to mess with a good thing. Though Spugen claims that the setup with their exhausts and the OEM resonator makes better power than with their pipe. Spugen has great customer service as well...

The ovals look incredible. I think that is what I'm going to have to go with.
I just ordered cross/slotted rotors, ss brake lines and hawk pads, I can't wait to get them installed. It make such a difference. Did you paint your calipers silver?
