Default Modify Seat Back/ Seat Back Panel for More Room?

I drove an S2000 with a BYS seat rail yesterday, and it was very nice. I finally fit relatively well (6' 6"!!!) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has modified the seat back or the panel behind the seat to allow the seat to slide more? I was thinking of taking the seat back panel off, but it seems like that would not afford much more room. Has anyone considered replacing the seat back foam with thinner foam? Thanks for any input

I've taken that paneling completely off. It's just metal under behind it. My friend has bride lowmax's and his passenger is mounted all the way back. tons of room

^That isn't the problem. I had a similar seat rail that lowered the driver seat and the seat pan is so deep on the factory seat that it bottoms out on the floor. Find a way to make the seat pan more shallow and then it might actually be possible to move it back farther and/or make it sit lower. I was going to look into doing this but then realized I didn't want to mess up my seat pan. I'd definitely give it a shot of I had an extra pan to mess with at my disposal.

Coming from a del sol I have come to really appreciate the newer interior. I have a passion for bodywork but the prospect of ripping apart my only seat freaks me the **** out for whatever reason. Then again I suppose the only way to go about it is to just do it without thinking too much. I wish I had the same level of confidence bit I suppose you gotta start somewhere. Maybe I'll get around to doing my leather seats on my del sol first.

At that extreme, 6' 6", you're better off going with an aftermarket seat. It'll be thinner base and thinner back. You'll gain a lot of room just from lower profile. But then you'll also be able to mount it lower and farther back, and gain even more.

Otherwise as stated you'd need to section the stock seatpan. Remove a section of pan, then reweld. Much like chopping the roof of an old school hotrod. You would also cut out a corresponding section of base foam. This is all done on the BOTTOM of seat pan. This would be required just to slide seat any farther back with bys rail. Take enough pan out and you could mod bys to also lower pan even more.

I know it's not much help, but I've read that there's a seat rail that lets you lower, nearly an inch from the seat to the wheel. I was considering it because I was worried I was too fat before I ever sat in one lol, but stock suits me just the same as my del sol with rsx leather seats which are higher than stock on the sol. I do like to ride the sol slouched as well, so I might get for the s2k anyway.
