Default Momo Shot installed

I've been searching for an alternative to my very well made Team Voodoo spun aluminum knob and over the weekend, I managed to find one which has exceeded my expectations ten-fold. The Voodoo knob is a little small for my hands and significantly lighter than the '02 OEM knob, which resulted in a shift feel that seemed to be less smooth than before. I liked the look and the countersunk construction which shortened the throws a tad, but compared to the OEM feel, it came up short. Mind you, this is just my .02 and Rick's (Team Moon supplier) Accessories has the heavier titanium knob and magnum knob as options for those who prefer heavier and slightly larger offerings. I really like some of Momo's designs so I happened to come across a stash of Momo's at a car assessory store and saw their latest design, called the "Shot." These knobs are SIGNIFICANTLY heavier and larger than their Air Race series and look stunning. Available in both black and silver carbon fiber, I chose the silver. Cost was $112 out the door. While attaching the knob I discovered I could add even MORE weight to it by taking an allen wrench and separating the carbon fiber part from the knob's body. There was just enough room to place a quarter in that slot (it fit perfectly and doesn't move at all) and the subsequent increase in grams has created a knob that feels like I am taking a screwdriver and moving it inside a can of 10W-30...even smoother than the OEM action. I got tons of compliments this weekend on the knob. It's inner cavity mimics a countersunk Team Moon and I was able to get the knob installed while dropping the actual point of contact about two inches below OEM (see pic). Overall, a lot of money for a shift knob but it looks fantastic in the S2000 and I thought you'd all like to see an option we have in gear knobs. For a real nice jpeg, go full size on this one below and you can see the detail.

It's a great looking knob
I just installed the one of a kind(according to Rick H.) Ti Spun Voodoo knob on my S2K and I think it's just about perfect both in weight and size for my use
Full Size for a better view.

Russ,

I just got a Momo Aluminum Race shift knob, and I'm having problems w/ the install. Question: Did you use the collar that screws onto the bottom of your shift knob? I couldn't slide my shift boot down far enough to be able to fit the collar (since the collar has to slide down first, while you tighten the allen screws on the knob, before being able to screw the collar up onto the base of the knob). Did that make sense? I can't tell from your pic if the collar is on the knob or not.

Thanks,
gil
