Monday 1-29 is going to be one long exciting day. First I'm going to get up bright and early, well dark and early. Catch ride to Savannah airport, fly to Atlanta then to Greensboro NC, rent car and drive 150 miles to Roanoke VA to Duncan Honda to pick up my Red S2000 for MSRP. Then after all the papers are signed I will push the red button and drive 500 miles south and should be home by midnight. I bought some flannel to put in the well (is it accessed through the trunk?) and a large towel for the outside of the rear window. Is there any other things I should know or any advice for my maiden drive. Monday will never get here.

Some pictures of my loaded Mustang GT with only 11,000 miles I'm about to sell.

Thanks,
William

I did the same thing, you know, fly up, then drive back 500-600 miles. Only this was between California and Oregon. Advice you say? The S2ki website has a great section on delivery advice. But do bring a flashlight for looking under the car, in the wheelwells, etc. Plenty of CD's to listen to. And no, the well is accessed from inside the car behind the roll hoops, not from the trunk. It is good that you're brining the flannel and towel, the plastic window care starts from day one. Remember to break it in easy and drive slow so you can pick up all the ladies...

William,

Wow...good job buddy!

Couple of things I would like to tell you to do...

1. The rag top well is accessed through the inside of the car.
2. Make sure you ask the dealer where the gas release panel is (I couldn't find it at first).
3. Make sure you ask the dealer where reverse is (I coulnd't find it at first). Hint: Push down on the shift nob and then try shifting to reverse.
4. Don't rev the engine above 6K on the way back.
5. Bring an bottle of motor oil just in case.
6. Have a safe trip!

I've heard break-in is more effective by having more than just one big driving chunk. Also, highway driving isn't quite what you're looking for since you don't get to vary the revs too much...maybe try the scenic route?

Putting the motor under load (eg; hill climbing) is supposed to be good break-in practice also.

Hey Will. You should keep the Mustang as a beater!

William - I went from driving a GT convertible to the S2K and I've never looked back! Enjoy the new car and have a safe return journey. The REAL fun is just starting.

When you get the car, check the oil cap (mine was loose, and lost it on the drive home)

Good luck! I had my car serviced at Duncan Honda when I got a flat tire driving down I-81 through Roanoke. They are very nice folks and did not mark up their S2Ks like others did

It has been said to vary your rpms while during break-in. Do not keep them steady for 200 miles on the highway.

See s2ki.com for a list of delivery items.
