My uncle is a wholesaler and ive been going to all the auctions for over 20 years now, i can usually recognize paintwork no problem and for the most part know what im looking for which is why i havent found the right car yet. glad i asked, dont like dishonesty but i dont want to be a rat. one response said a sucker will buy the car from him. ill just assume the members on the forum are not suckers.
You should post. You don't owe the seller anything. This is a forum, everyone is entitled to post information that adds value to the discussion.

Besides, odo manipulation is fraud. Car enthusiasts should look out for each other. Don't let scammers win.

OP, what price range / mileage S2K are you looking for? Not that it should affect the honesty of the seller, but I'm mostly curious as to how this relates to the type of sellers you are encountering.

I think you should report all of the problems, issues, color and general location of the car you looked at
Wouldn't do the VIN, names etc
Some searcher on this site might put 2 and 2 together or at least be on alert when looking at a similar sounding vehicle

^^^This, we are a community, we should be helping each other out, if the discrepancies are big, by all mean post on their for sale post. This will keep all sellers honest. I know I would.

Look at it this way, you are posting facts, let the buyers read and decide on their own. And I strongly agree, "Don't Let Scammers win"

You have to ask a lot of questions. Ask for more pics.
If you find yourself time and time again getting hit with forgotten details, you're not asking enough.

They're trying to sell a car that is older in age now, been driven aggressively, and is USED.

Its tough buying these cars now a days, but stay with it, the right one will come along to you.
There will be some aggravation along the way.

But I wouldn't rat people out though. chalk it up to lesson learned.
hey
no offense taken, thats why i post.

If I were buying, I would appreciate knowing something the seller didn't point out, especially something like a mileage discrepancy. I ended up buying from a great seller, but was scared away by wishy-washy sellers before that.

I would never say that you should post negatively against another member unless you have been scammed or something to that effect but like bgoetz has pointed out, the CR section "really" looks out for potential buyers.

Could be a new thread to the FS section one day? I believe that honesty is the best policy, both buying and selling. Also, buyer beware!

Sellers 100% have a moral or ethical obligation to fully disclose everything they know. As OP mentioned, they often do not.

Buyers don't have that same moral obligation to help other competing buyers if they choose to pass, but as a community, we should look out for each other and be open to full disclosure on both sides of the table. We're enthusiasts, and should be a step above Craigslist

If I believe the buyer is trying to screw me or somebody else or they are just being dishonest or trying to hide something without question I would post it on here. Why not?

I once fought traffic for two hours to look at a motorcycle that was a totally different model than what was advertised. They even figured it out while I was on my way and made no attempt to call me and tell me. Not cool. This was before camera phones and digital cameras are as prolific as they are now.

If I can save somebody some wasted time by making a quick post I will happily do so.
