More clutch problems
should be fine slipping at under vtec, i haven't tried 5rpm, i always slip at 4 if i decide to. i did the same going through first and shifted to 2nd. the clutch is fine though. i wouldn't want to drag race anybody anymore, dumping enough already. i wish i could start over from when i picked up the car eventhough i think my clutch is fine. but all the grinding and things like that made the car far from new.
awwww come'on people, it's normal unless you think you did something really wrong....ive had 2 s2000's and they sound the same although you hear all that stuff during deceleration or smell.
it's just that everything is so close to you, you hear every noise that your car makes.

Kwando - you're mixing apples and oranges here. I have never dropped the clutch in my S2000. I merely tried to slip/feather the clutch off the lne from about 4K and it slipped completely through two gears.
Like I said before, I think it is safe to say the '02s have their own set of clutch problems

Jimbo
I do not have any clutch problems on my 02. You have to either drive it normal, or drop it without slipping it. Once it starts to slip, it will not grab because of the size of the clutch in this car. The smaller the clutch, the less clamping force unless you go to a racing/HD unit or multiple disk setup.
I had a 91 Eagle Talon AWD that was so substantially modified that even a centerforce clutch would slip under full boost in 3rd or 4th gear. A multiple disk clutch stoped the problems, but since the clutch would no longer slip, I started to shatter drivtrain parts.
So you have a couple of choices, live with the so so factory clutch, or use something better but be prepared to replace lots of CV joints and rear ends.

jimbo, your experience with the clutch slip through first and second gear is something that could happen to every s2000 new or old. i didn't direct my answer to you, but i basically said it was normal to hear the decelerating, and smell what you smell after you burn the clutch.
It happened to me today I have a 2002 and I did a high rpm and launch and my car didnt move to quickly as it was suppose to and I smelled that clutch burn. I had other rear wheel drive cars like a Supra and when I dropped the clutch the wheels spin. During this lauch my foot was off the clutch pedal I wasnt even riding the clutch....I thought I was the only one but later on the car is fine but is this typical of honda cluthches.. Does the factory clutch have enogh clamping power for this motor?
If I need to replace the clutch is there a better clutch out there
??
