Txst,

Jealousy part was not referring to you. It was to the others on the road that may not like them.

The whole point was that while people may not like them, they aren't going away, and those that don't like them need to accept them and move on. Just like I have to accept people doing things on the road that I don't like.

No, they are just constantly in peoples eyes, so they are just there. No flashing. I was out tonight with a few of the other Austin S2K owners, and I can tell you, driving in front of them is MUCH better than when I had the Ford Superduty behind me at a stop light. He was about a foot further to the left than I, so his headlights were directly even with my side view mirror. THAT sucked...

I had seen 2000 and 2002 side by side behind me and HID projected differently.
2002 seemed more muted down compare to 2000 which was quite bright looking like high beam was on.
So 2002 looked like it wasn't much less bouncy than the 2000.
thank YOU, that explains MY problem. i have a '02 and could swear my lights are pointed to low. i'm always hitting high beams because i can't see a thing with the hid lows.

i was going to go into the dealer to check to see if my lights might have been improperly adjusted at the factory... now i'll go back and demand that they be re-adjusted to 2000/01 specs.

i can't see and its dangerous!!! ... more dangerous than intermittent flashes experienced by the "other guy".

The one problem with the "screw the other guy" theory is sometimes the other guy is coming at you on a narrow road and may be blinded. The other guy is probably in a much bigger car, and I don't want to be the recipient of his poor skills or deer in the headlights reaction....

The S2000 does indeed have a very odd head light set up... but I think more than anything, it just changes colors with the bounces... never really annoyes me, but then again I always get kinda giddy just by seeing an S2000 so the headlights are in my book...

I pulled someone over too a few months ago.
A combination of coming up rapidly behind someone
in the dark on a bumpy road plus the blueness of the lights
makes you look like a police vehicle from hell.
The key is to not get too close to the car in front of you
(beam cutoff below licence plate), otherwise the psychological
factors come into play. First people get frightened, then angry.

The coming at you on a dark road bit is a moot point. You can be blinded by halogen lights just as easy as xenons. Anytime you go from dark to bright light it has the same effect.

Regardless, there are bigger problems on the road than our headlights being perceived as too bright for some people.

Actually, they actually may go away. Laws get passed, and the pretty blue lights are no more. This issue is still under review in the US by the DOT. Here is some documentation from their site:

My $0.02: my wife has them on her I30. When we got them originally I thought they were kind of neat, but the attraction has worn thin. She complains the cut-off is too sharp, requiring her to constantly switch back and forth to hi beams when driving in the forests near my house. We had them checked, and they are properly aimed. To compensate she runs with her "fogs" on full time in order to read signs and see deer. I personally don't care for them - I get too much glare from reflectors, have trouble seeing the signs, and can't see as well as I can with my Subaru's H4 beams. Next time it's back to conventional bulbs.
