Unhappy More newbie questions for the pros

OK....so I get a used 2001 s2000 (only one previous owner) and here are some things im running into. I have been searching high low and everywhere inbetween to find dyno charts that prove which intake is better. I hate people who just say theirs are with no evidence. AEM v2 looks pretty damn good so far.

Secret compartment? I read this on another thread....as that a joke or does it exist?

The only problem I've had so far with it: I took it out early morning and when the engine was still cold I accidentally cut someone off so to get out of their way I stomped the gas and in first gear the gas or something just die when VTEC shouldve kicked in...right around 6,000. NOW....Please dont give me shit for beating my car Iknow it was stupid but what might have caused that? The engine was still running but its like it just stopped gaining power for a few seconds.

Thanks everyone

Intake - They all basically don't provide any gains. I've had an AEM CAI, and an AEM CAI V2, neither one made any difference other than the "sound."

The secret compartment is between the two roll hoops. Open your "glove box" between the seats, then feel under the top lip of it, and you'll be able to open a much larger compartment that is "hidden."

The car has a cold rev limiter, it won't allow you to engage VTEC if the engine is cold. But you still should refrain from going over 5,000~ rpm for at least 10 minutes if you can avoid it.

What are you basing this on?

Also, the gains from a CAI may not show up on a Dyno compared to stock with the hood up and low room temps. The bigger the delta between engine bay and external temps, the more the CAI will help.

Thanks! I thought I broke my car already I was really worried. I found the "secret compartment" too....apparently its so secret the previous owner forgot half her crap in it. I think one of my last questions for now will be how do you get the interior dash lights to be really bright every time you turn on your headlights? Every time I turn my headlights on...the dash lights dim and I have to manually boost them up. Any way around this?

Intakes - I'd be pretty shocked if they were all the same power increase but I guess most of them use the same technology. I popped my hood and the first thing Inoticed was how restricted the air flow was. I guess this would be a good first mod.

Thanks for the help guys!

on the left side of the dash (under where the rpms start) there is a button there that is marked "cancel". When you turn on the headlights, hold down that button for like 2 seconds and it will un-dim the dash.
