More posts from the RX7 guys.......
FD is always in the begining of the VIN I believe, it denotes 3rd Gen.
I really think that comparing these cars is like comparing apples to oranges (I think one RX7er said that too). IMO, RX7s in stock trim are a little faster than our car and are easier to modify, but our car is much more exclusive and built better. Alright much better.
You can't beat them for bang-per-buck performance though. Their interior reminds me of the early 90s Ford Taurus.....cheap.
But I still want a RX7 one day.

The RX-3 Mazda. You talk about a little speed demon. In the 70's they were outrunning Z28s. They were a little s@#t box but were fast. When they started turbo charging is when they began to have problems. I actually outran a Z28 with a RX-4 4 door. The guy stopped and asked what kind of engine was in the car and told me that he couldn't keep up. I smiled and said a Wankel Rotary. He didn't believe me! Even after I showed him he though it was a turbine engine.
Suzuki used the motor in a touring bike called the, RE-5. Van Veen (Dutch) used a twin rotor model in a motorcycle also. Even by todays standards it is a superbike.

One old modified RX7 had raced me before, but he didn't give me any heads up when we were sitting at the red light. I wasn't paying attetion to him and just talking to my passenger. He floored his car as soon as the light turned green. Before I realized and floored my S, he was already ahead of me. I was catching up with him and then he cut in front of me, I had to brake to avoid kissing his bumper (it was that close).
I was impressed with the performance of that old car. But he shouldn't cheat start
. Well, I learned my lesson that just shouldn't take the challenge if I am not prepared

Yes ... IMHO a stock 3rd gen RX-7 makes the s2k seem slow ... my choice is still the s2k but WOW are those things fast ...
BTW, not all RX-7 owners are idiots ... just wait til you can get an s2k for dirt cheap and we'll have our share ...
Have fun,
Derek

i think sport compact car said the fd is the one of the best sport cars ever, but also one of the worst. imo thats the best description. performance, rx7 kills the s2k that includes acceleration and handling etc. but reliability is the only problem.
not to mention the fuel economy of a Ford Expedition

That thread reflects one thing: immaturity, and it just can't be taken seriously. I found it especially amazing that some of them thought S2000 owners were snobs. I haven't met one yet, although I'm sure there are some.
All this macho ranting is a bore, on whatever site it is found.
