Unhappy Mugen front bumper... Type M!

Okay Mugen front bumper and Type M... are pretty much the same thing right? not really right? The type M of course is the fake one... yea its fake, but its also at a reasonable price... were as the mugen is at almost 2000 dollars on KING motorsports.... give me a break. I used to have a vette and got a new front bumper and it did not run that much and it was a new design for the C5 and you know they dont have any bumpers and if they do they are expensive, but not 2000 for a bumper either, unless it is like leighenfelter or something, but i digress. What i need to know is.....

Should i really waste my hard earned cash on the MUGEN bumper that looks exactly the same as the TYPE M? The Type M is close to 300 dollars... does it really matter that much! I mean i know its a repica, but come on 1700 for a bumper is kinda out of hand. Does anyone know how they both compare. I know the other one won't be perfect, but from what ive learned .... ALL AFTERMARKET STUFF IS NEVER 100% PERFECT!

okay fitment... so the point that you are trying to make is that the type M won't be as accurate... then why do companies sell them at all? (not trying to be smart, just asking here)

they make em so people who want the look but cant afford it will buy it. of course people who buy replicas cant complain because fitment will never be perfect, but for the price you are willing to pay what do you expect? it cant be top quality super good fitment if you are going to spend 300 bucks on a replica. you get what you payfor

If the body shop is good, they can make it fit perfectly!

My buddy sells this "style" front bumper and he even told me it nowhere near the fitment of the Mugen SS front on top of its heavier and fiberglass.

You also do not get a center under tray so I have no idea how you would make it work (more than likely use your stock tray and custom cut it?). Plus its off as far as the smiley face is concerned also. I have seen it and its a wider mouth section thus very easily distinguishing it from the "style" one. Like people say you get what you pay for.

They sell these because there are people out there on a budget, yet want the look, and can get very close to it for thousands less. But in reality after labor and bodywork trying to get it to fit and look like an original, you will end up probably spending close to the paying price of the original.

Lastly even my $2000 front bumper needed bodywork. It did not come from Mugen Japan ready to paint. Infact I know of 3 others that needed bodywork also. So even the original isnt perfect. So how can a "style" one be even close? Short answer: It cant!

The biggest difference from the "style" bumper and the authentic Mugen SS bumper is the undertray that goes underneath the body of the car...See if someone local to you has an authentic Mugen bumper and you will see what I'm taking about. Good luck with your decision

same concept. better quality parts cost more and the fact that it's made by mugen makes the price go up just a tad..
