Default Mugen Hardtops Are Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I was just checking out the King Motorsports website and I fell in love with the Mugen Hardtop. This hardtop design puts the OEM design to shame. Not only is it aesthetically more appealing but it also has better aerodynamics than the "blunt-like" shape of the OEM hardtop. I'm definitely gonna be saving my pennies for this thing. I noticed that Mugen makes a Carbon Fiber Hardtop and a FRP (Fiber-reinforced Polymer???). Anybody know what the main difference between these if besides the fact the the Carbon Fiber one costs $4999 and the FRP costs $2800. How much do each of these weigh and how do they compare to the OEM hardtop? If you had this would your car make it a day on the streets or can you kiss your new Mugen Hardtop goodbye as soon as you turn your back? How come I have never seen anybody with this hardtop? For those who haven't seen it, you have to check this thing out:

- the OEM top looks much better than the mugen
- the mugen just doesn't "fit" (flow)

Plus the OEM hardtop gets rid of the horrible blind spot that the soft top creates and the mugen one looks just as bad of a blind spot if not worse.

I for one love the look of the mugen ht and plan on getting one after I get another s2k. I will be sticking with the fiber glass though Carbon = way more money than I have!

If the only external appearance "mod" is a hardtop, then the OEM looks better. If you are going with the rims, CF hood, wing and all, then the Mugen would look better (IMHO).

The blindspot is located over your left shoulder (left-hand drive) not through the rear window. Neither the mugen or OEM design helps to improve the blind-spot problem because I have never used the corner of my rear window to watch for traffic as it concerns someone near my rear bumper on either side. The only design that would eliminate this would be a hardtop design that offered a smaller window behind the main driver/passenger windows like those seen in integra/civic coupes. The Mugen HT makes the S2000 have that space-ship at warp speed effect (elongated horizontal tear-drop shape) even when it is standing still. This is what is most appealing to me.

Maybe someone can photoshop a mugen hardtop on an otherwise stock S2000 just for comparison. I still think the Mugen one makes the S2000 look slicker than the OEM.

Same here! The Carbon Fiber is way more than I would ever want to spend.
