Jeez....no one seems to be answering my questions these days...hmm! I just installed mugens exhaust and header last night, and feel there is quite alot of boominess (sound resonance) until I reach 4-5 grand on the tach. I've re-read previous posts and remember luis complaining of the same thing. Is this actually normal or a hangar/leak/problem? Thanks for any help.

p.s. I got to race one of our board members last night! (you know who you are!) (;
After the green I broke loose at 3200, (no torque?) and simply walked away from him... spinning in second as well. Love it!

Well if you have a car jack I would say get under the car and check for air leaks. They will be black spots and puffing air! Same goes for the header to the engine area.

This boomieness I think is probably normal. Though it shouldnt be much over stock. If it is really look hard. I doubt it can be attributed to a bad hanger that is more of a rattle issue.

PS: I have just the Mugen headers(2nd set) both went on perfectly no leaks! Sound is a bit higher pitched than stock.

The boom or drone seems to be a characteristic of the aftermarket exhausts.. I have not seen one yet without it. I have a HKS that is great with the top down but booms more than I

I am surprised you have a lot of boominess with Mugen header and exhaust. I just switched from HKS to Mugen exhaust, and have Mugen headers. If you thought Mugen/Mugen was boomy, the HKS would be like a jack hammer. The Mugen sound is silky without being staccato like and has more sound than stock, but just enough for me. Vtec seems stronger, but does that mean subvtec is weaker? Well, it did the best on the short straight I test my car so far. Premods was 50mph prior to braking, now I'll have to shift beacuse redline (~60mph)is being approached. Before Mugen exhaust, this was not a problem, so Scott at Kingmotorsports' claim that mid power is increased by Mugen exhaust seems to be born out. I am pleased.

Given the torque I feel, your experience of breaking tires loose in 2nd is well within reason.

Eh Viscreal! Nice Mugen combo. I do admit your car is faster (by not much) than mine, but my car has a nicer sound. So there! Haha, nah just kidding. I'm friggin envious of your car, man! Wait 'till I start saving my nickels and dimes and buy a HKS header. Now that's a drag race. Latez!

Visc,

My dealer sprayed silicone on the mounts and that may have had a softening effect.

But don't worry. Give it a week and you'll get used to it. It was driving me mad as well, but I barely notice it now. And the pleasure of hearing it around idle is enough to make you forget the rest. And the worst is not the boominess, it's the price.

Unless you are looking for a sound to scare the neighbours (good spelling) away, the Mugen is a winner: least "rice", best looks, best sound, and serious weight savings.

Now, where do I collect my commission?

Wow....at first I couldn't believe that Viscreal was posting again! I sure hope that Scot and 1RandyC straightened Viscreal, I mean things, out!

Randy, any updates on this situation?

Yes Luder94, I almost had a heart-attack when I saw the post.

The situation is very grim, I don't have any hope left at this point to resolve this issue with him.

The money could've bought me nice paint job and body work that I've been meaning to do on my front bumper.

Well his car is seen in broad day light in CA. Just check with the Cali guys to see if they'll do anything for you to help you out.

Mind you, he's got some MF10's that can cover the cost of your ECU ....did you try going to the authorities?

He robbed you through the internet and across state lines, doesn't that make it a federal offense?
