Default Mugen or HKS exhaust

hello guys!

I need some input on this.

I am thinking about getting an exhaust.
and Mugen and HKS are the ones that got my attention.

HKS has very nice sound but almost zero hp gain.
Mugen exhaust is lighter than HKS and quiter.
also heard mugen gains little hp as well.

I tried to listen to mugen sound on this website, but I couldn't really tell the difference with stock exhaust sound.

Can anyone help me with their experience with both exhaust?
If you had a choice which one would you go with?
any comment is welcome!

thanks guys!

what's your budget? you can get the hks for about half the price of mugen.

i'd get mugen just because i can't stand an exhaust that is too loud, i heard the mugen is pretty restrictive though and the gains will be had midrange i think

Neither exhaust will net you anything appreciable. Neither exhaust will lose HP. HKS sounds abso-freakin-lutely fantastic. Mugen is much more like stock. And hardly worth the extra clams.

HKS all the way!
And as it's aging, sound just gets better and better.
Who cares about couple horses?? It looks far better than mugen and sounds pretty darn sweet.

I recently installed the Mugen exhaust on my AP1. It is very quiet for aftermarket, almost unnoticable. It is loudest around 2,000 rpms and is slightly louder than stock every where else. It is easy to live with on the highway and does give you a bit more audible feedback.

I've never heard it from outside the car, so I don't know what it sounds like. If you want your car to sound good and be a good amount louder than stock, then get the HKS.

But if you want lighter weight and a quieter exhaust that is easy to live with every day, get the Mugen.

Though, I don't think either give much appreciable power increase, maybe in the midrange with the Mugen, but I couldn't tell much difference.

Search using the following key words: "Luder94", "exhaust", "HKS", and "Mugen".

I've written plenty on these two exhausts....I've owned two HKS Hiper systems, and three Mugen exhausts.

There's already a bit of incorrect information posted on some of the respondants opinions...so beware of what you read.
