Default Mugen replica at the track?

Do most tracks allow for a mugen replica or do I have to go with oem? Is there any specific rule from scaa that allows use of non oem hardtops? Can someone point me to the rule about oem hardtops? I am trying to run at limerock with cart and the guy is giving me a hard time saying oem hardtops are not acceptable. I found great deals on mugen replicas

Straight from their site:
ROLL BARS AND CAGES: All open cars must be equipped with a SCCA or CART approved roll structure. A factory style hardtop is recommended

Recommended, well if that doesn't leave it vague nothing does.

are you talking about just going to the track or competing? if you're just going to the track, you can use whatever you want. some clubs require a roll bar.

for NASA, if you want a hardtop, it must be oem: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/835...-hardtop-rule/

For NASA the factory roll protection is good enough. There are a number of S2000's that rund HPDE with us on a monthly basis (here in AZ) that pass tech every time with no roof, or any other aftermarket roof of any kind at all.

Well my dilemma is this. I want to run at limerock and the club (cartct.com) I'm trying to run with is saying I need a roll bar. I just got an email saying they won't accept the factory hardtop. Wtf?? I guess I need to get a harddog roll bar or I can't run. Makes no sense. Any other groups I can run with near ct?

Why not run with your factory roll hoops? That's what they're there for...

A hardtop is not roll over protection. Stock roll hoops are.

For HPDE/PDX/Track Days, most clubs/tracks are fine with the stock S2000 roll hoops. Some aren't. It really depends on their insurance. If the club you want to run with isn't cool with the stock S2000 roll hoops, find a different club. If the track isn't cool with it, find a different track. Or just get an aftermarket roll bar (Hard Dog, being up to SCCA spec is your best bet. Some tracks/clubs may not allow mugen, cusco, safety21, etc.)
