Default MUGEN S2000 vs. Stock S2000

I got this off of Car&Driver, August 2001 issue, pages-110-11.

Stock S2000: Base price-$32,7420. Power/torque-240hp/153lb-ft. Performance-0-30(2.2)*0-60(5.8)*0-100(14.9)*1/4(14.4@98mph). Street Star-5-60mph(6.8sec). Top Gear-30-50mph(9.8)*50-70mph(9.1). Skidpad .90G.

Mugen S2000: Base prcie-$56,352. Power/Torque-255hp/157lb-ft. Performance-0-30(2.0)*0-60(5.4)*0-100(14.1)*1/4(14.1@100mph). Street Start-5-60mph(6.2sec). top gear-30-50mhp(9.3)*50-70mph(9.1). Skidpad .93G.

Performance mods:
Carbon-fiber airbox($1500)
Stainless-steel header (1300)
Exhaust system (1500)
Engine ECU (1500)
Thermostat (69)
High pressure radiator cap (29)
Mugen Springs/shocks (3300)
Bigger ati-rollbar (380)
Mugen wheels (2640)
Potenza S-02 (946)
Carbon-fiber hardtop (4999)
Rear spoiler (650)
Front Spoiler (1400)
Mugen pressure plate (399)
Bump-steer kit (500)

That's mucho money spend on that S2000. The total gain are 10hp, 5lb-ft, .03G, .3 sec faster in 1/4ET, .4 sec faster in 0-60.
$23,610$ bucks above a stock s2000(without tax).
What can you get for a $56,352$?

Nick

The car is tweaked. Honda is already guessed and checked the whole car to squeeze to 240hp out of a 2L 4CYL engine. I guess you can't complain about that though. It's just a fit and finished car.

Some of those parts are made to reduce weight.

Anyone know the wieght differences between the two, perferrably without the hardtop?

Subtract the $15,000 extra Mugen charges for its poor performing extreemly over priced products just to get the already lame name "Mugen" and its worth it.

Wasnt there a big debate, not too long ago, about wheather to modify or NOT to modify? This would be a strong case, to NOT modify, if u ask me.

If I sound bitter, its because I spend a bunch of money before I found out the few gains that'll come out of it.....IF ANY!

.....so to GTR, go stick it up your butt.....go ahead and mod your car to the nuts.....put a supercharger or whatever in your car.......most Stock S2000's will be able to keep up with it.
