Default Mugen VS Comptech

I just got a 05 white s2000 ( car will be deliver this week) and I am trying to decide which CAI/Exhaust to pick. I know mugen is the honda tuner but a coworker is telling me to go with comptech as they are local (CA, USA)

Could you guys give me som pros/cons from this manufacturers or alternative options?

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Here's food for thought. A friend and I dynoed our cars together a few months ago. He has an MY01 with an 02 ECU but is otherwise stock. I have an 03 with comptech intake + mugen exhaust. Our hp #'s were the same; I made 2lbs more torque than his car. Of course, the caveat here is that my car could have had a lower baseline stock. But then again, everyone says that minimal gains are to be expected with basic bolt-on's for this car.

I'll tell you this. I recently got 4.44 gears, and I consider that to definitely be a better investment if you want noticeable ooomph.

You have to cut the underside of the hood to fit the Mugen CAI. Major negative in my book. The Comptech CAI doesn't require cutting, but getting it to fit without the hood wacking the crap out of it can be problematic. Who knows, Mugen could come out with one in the future that doesn't require cutting.

You could just do the Mugen high performance filter instead if you want to stay with one brand and plan on the Mugen exhaust. Many people swear by the Mugen headers also.

I have a 2003 with the Comtech CAI and it fit fine and the Comptech headers and love it.
I have not had a chance to do a dyno run but it's comming soon.

I would like the car so have a nice sound. My dodge ram has a borla exhaust, not sure that gives me more horse power but I love its sound.

It would be a crime that a pickup sounded 'nicer' than my sport car so I wanted to add a cai & exhaust to match. I realize after reading comptech dynos that the only way to get more hp is with a supercharger but I wanted a nicer sound

Are the headers really an improvement ? It is my understanding that mugen exhaust is Titanium. Is that right ?

Get single outlet exhaust, really the only way to make power.
