Default My 1 year anniversary!

Today marks one year since I snapped my number two rod and sent it flying through the side of my block. Thanks to everyone who helped me rebuild, the car is running better than ever.

Memories light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were.

Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we?
Could we?

Memories may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter we will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were...

Do you know why the rod snapped? Hydrolock?

No one really knows why the rod snapped. It was during a very hard day of driving on the Dragon. I had really thrown the car around but in my time of ownership had never once mechanically over-reved the engine.

It's possible that the oil jets just couldnt keep up with the changes in elevation and turns. It was not a sudden snap it came on slowly and broke on my way back to the hotel. At the onset of the noise we thought it was due to a spring on the clutch disk.

Either way it was a learning experience. I'm still paying it off but the knowledge gained from this is priceless.
