Original owner, 67,000 mi, this spring when I got the car out it seemed noticeably slower. Never had an engine light, it NEVER has a "miss", Vtec changes but not as crisp? It has not been tuned up for awhile but again, engine is smooth. Changed the oil, looked new, no change. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!!

Drop the top, will feel much faster.

 

Coukd be several things. One that pops to mind is a bad o2 sensor, where ecu responds by giving incorrect fuel, causing lackluster performance. This wouldn't necessarily cause a cel.

Also possible dirty air filter. Maybe over winter some mice built a nest in tbe airbox. Or maybe exhaust is clogged with a mouse nest.

 

The ECU essentially ignores the O2 sensor data as soon as you tip the throttle in to accelerate at any substantial rate. It goes into open loop at that point.

Clogged air filter or exhaust maybe.

Or just perception. Take it to a drag strip to confirm your suspicion, OP.

Or just make sure its in good running shape and wrap your mind around the fact that's its as fast as he/she's gonna go.

 

Change the air filter,the gas filter(in-tank).Clean also the throttle body and change your spark plugs.Then make a valve adjustment.Now you got your horsepower back.Hit it 2-3 times in a row and you're gonna feel it as it was fast!

 

Aside from the maintainance mentioned by others, i guess all thats left is to make sure your running high octane fuel and that the top is down

 

Before doing anything just time your 0-60 or something like that first to make sure something is actually wrong and it's not just a feeling.

 

Find your nearest HPDE or autocross.
