Just to keep everyone straight ... there are no less than five (5) threads on this topic / article ... is there any way for moderators to combine them? Anyway, the threads are:

2002 S2000 - New suspension setup

Check out a review of the 2002......

rear end tweaked

MY 2002 Suspension Changes

2002 MY 'Driven' in this weeks Auto Express
And here is the article

As an ex ITR owner who tracked it can I ask how you managed that?
Trail braking. The ITR will step the rear end out quit easily.

The s2000 is twitchy at the limit -- but I would not have it any other way. It's fun the way it is.....

So are the 2002 'fiches out yet? Can anyone check on part number changes for the following: shocks, springs, upper and lower a-arms, hubs, roll bars, tires? This would, of course, provide the definitive answer.

I think the liklihood of a public acknowledgement is somewhere near... NONE!

The Auto Express article is written in such Junior level English, it's hard to ascertain much useful.

I suspect they have changed the suspension bushes and possibly rear toe control arms, to reduce passive rear steer. I suspect the re-calibrated steering has a lot to do with it too.

If so the car will handle more benignly, but will lose the hard-core feel of the original

I haven't had much experience with the stook yet - going to order an '02 model v. soon. (Can't wait to get involved in track action). Only real drive I've had was up and down the PCH in the US earlier in the year (story is in another thread), but I've been driving a 3 series for the last nine years - the same car I passed my test in many moons ago - which although very different in character to the stook, is at least a RWD car.

Over the years my 3 series has had various things done to it, as is the norm with these things, and IMHO what I'm looking for is consistency with a car's responses. I didn't really care about the changes that each mod I made to my car had on the performance envelope as long as:

1) it was safe;
2) it was worth it - i.e. looked or felt cool; and
3) the performance gain (or reduction!) was repeatable each time i asked for it. Consistency of response = confidence.

I guess that without the benefit of having experienced living with a post '99 model stook I'm not qualified to speak, but I'm pretty sure that any changes made to the '02 model wouldn't have been noticeable to me after a while of adapting to it.

It looks like they're going to do a group test of the S2k against an M Coupe, a Caterham 7, and an Exige next week, so that should make interesting reading.

Can you tell me what magazine will have this write-up? Sounds like it will be a good read so I'll go and buy the magazine (when it comes out).
