My Baby's been totalled! AARHG!
Another thing to consider...if you get insurance on a salvage-title car, the insurance company is going to be very conservative on the limits of collision damage they'll cover in any future accident. They could set value at a much lower $ amount then what you have in it for repairs, thus minimizing the amount they'd pay if you're in another wreck. Check with them first to see how they would handle a collision claim on a salvage-titled car.

The estimate for repairs was about $8000+. So they want to total it.
A total repaint including pulling the engine/drivetrain should be no more than $5500 a bumper is $400 and a top well you can do that for under $700

Hey buy it back take the 8k and have a field day!
1. What's the downside of having a salvage title?
2. Can I still get collision coverage after it's been fixed?
3. Who's a good experienced softop installer in the SoCal area? I'm thinking of a Robbin's top.
1. Resale value. But it sounds like you want to keep your car so who cares.
2. Yes. As others have said they will only cover up to market value. If it has a salvage title then market value is lower.
3. Hardtop!!
