Default My A/C is possesed!!!

I was on my way to work and had the top up. I turned on the a/c once the engine had warmed up and then turned on recirculate.

After about 10 mins, I turned the a/c off, then back on about 5 mins later.

Once I turned it back on, what can best be described as fog, started pouring out of the vent in the middle of the dash.

What caused this? What was the "fog"? Is this normal?

One other thing: How do you know the exact "born on" date of your car, some guys have the exact day it was built in their sig...

Thank You

I don't think this is uncommon or particular to your car. I know I have seen this in several other cars.

The fog that you describe is normal. When the temperature of the delivered air from the A/C falles below the dewpoint of the air in the car, the water in the air condenses.

I agree with people above. It usually happens early morning & humid nights. Sometimes I turn off A/C and on to see those fog. because it's like fog machine. cool...

cheers,

"One other thing: How do you know the exact "born on" date of your car, some guys have the exact day it was built in their sig..." Take your center console apart and you'll find a sticker with the build date.

Fogging can also mean it is low on coolant and needs a recharge but the process you describe is probably contributing to the fogging. If it starts doing it when you first start out in morning then I would think you need to get it checked. My BMW would do that when it was low on coolant. And that AC never did really work well. I haven't had my S2K long enough to see if mine does it but so far no and I live in FL. Humid is the norm here.

Mine does that too. That is, when it's working.

SiK182, Take your center console apart (to install Rick's leather console ofcourse!) and you will find a sticker underneath it which gives the final assembly date for the vehicle. 03/13/2001 for me!

I've seen this effect inside an airplane. The day was hot and humid outside, and the air conditioning inside the airplane was spewing what looked like smoke. The captain had to come on the intercom to reassure us it was merely condensation Looked pretty dramatic even though I knew it was harmless

Talk about clouds of fog pouring out of every AC vent on the inside of the airplane ...
