Default Is my car ap1 or ap2

Hi all.

So I just got my first s2000. its an 05 plate moonrock grey.

So all evidence suggests its an ap2? but on the plaque under the bonnet it says type:ap1 and it definatley revs to 9000?

Please help!.

if you are not from the US, then the car can still have an F20c in an AP2 which would explain why it revs to 9k still.

Or, I guess it could have had an engine swap. are you sure the car is completely stock? If it really is an 05 from the US, it should have an F22c and so only be able to rev to 8k

The F22C was never used in UK S2000s.
And even though the 2004-09 S2000s received basically the same AP2 chassis and body changes as the US S2Ks, the AP2 chassis designation was never used in the UK.

At least that's the way I understand it.

Its moonrock, so unless it has custom paint, its out of the country. My bet would be an AP2 with a F20. I think since this site is mostly US users, most of the stuff your seeing is US based specs.

why don't you just check the VIN? It will either say AP1 or AP2 right on the VIN

I don't know how it is in the UK

but in Japan and the US, whenever the body change came, all chassis codes were changed to AP2...even if it still had the F20
