Default my car value?

hey guys I just replaced my engine from 2007 s2k by the honda dealership. The reason why it was replaced is because my engine got flooded. So my insurance got me a brand new engine with zero miles. My question is will my car lose value or gain value? My whole car is perfect with no problems, but just the engine got flooded.

Flooded engine? Do you hydrolock the engine or was the car in a flood? I'll assume the former. If you have the documentation that that Honda dealer did the engine replacement with a brand new unit, that would be a plus in my book. I would say your car could command a slight premium over one with the same miles on the original engine.

Depends on the person. Some people would look at this and say if you hydrolocked the engine you probably didnt take good care of it, and then make your car worth less.

Honestly, with a brand new engine installed by Honda I would say the value of the car actually increased.

Decrease. People don't like cars that have had original equipment (specially something as large as a motor) replaced for what may/may not have been negligence.

You might get market value. Don't expect more because of this. Usually doesn't work that way.

I'd look at it as a plus if it were my own car... Low miles, no miles is good stuff if it's my car. If I were buying the car I'd look at it as a plus but I wouldn't be willing to pay actual low milage price on the car because of the change.

How did just the engine get flooded? Did it suck up water or was the entire car inundated with water?

I would consider this a plus if there was a motor problem or if it was hydrolocked where nothing else was exposed to water, but the car being in a flood I'd be worried about what else may have been damaged with water.

how many miles did it have on the motor before the new one was installed? if it was low mileage then i would have prefered the original motor over a replaced one since i dont like anything swapped but if it was up there in miles then yes it is definitely a plus.
