My car won't start.
I have no idea why this happened but after coming home from the megameet today, I tried starting my car but it appeared the battery was nearly dead. I don't know how that happened, but I got a jump and the car started just fine. I took a quick 30 minute drive, parked the car back home, and that was that. This all happened about 2 hours ago.
5 minutes ago I tried starting it and AGAIN the engine would not turn over. The windows & convertible top will move, but very slowly. The headlights are dim. This is very frustrating, *any* help would be appreciated.

Lee355,
I had this happen a couple of weeks ago. I drove to work (about 20 miles) and stopped the car to get something from my desk. 5 minutes after I arrive at my office, I leave only to find that the engine won't turn over and all electrics are nearly dead. I got a jump start and took it to the dealer who told me the battery had failed and that this was getting quite common with new cars.
The battery was replaced under warranty although they have a sliding scale on what you pay based on the age of the car. Mine is 2.5 years old so I ended up paying 50% of the battery with free labour.

It sounds to me like the battery isnt holding a charge, probably because the plates in the battery are sulfated. i dont think it is the alternator because if it was the lights wouldnt turn on at all. because the car would get all the power from the battery, and when it got so low the radio would turn off when you hit the breaks, cause the power needed to turn on the brake lights would come off the battery, thus leaving no power for the stereo. How ever you said the top still works ail beit slow, but it still works. i would say go back to the dealer and get a new battery under warranty. it shouldnt take very long

Everybody with a car should have a car charger. You can buy an adequate one at Walmart or Kmart for $30.
Charge the battery overnight and then drive to the dealer. The dealer can put a charged battery on a tester and see. If you don't charge it first, you'll have to leave it for a few hours or overnight for the dealer to charge it before testing it.
