Default My custom emblem prototype

Well i thought i would try and make a custom emblem, and today finished what a prototype. The prototype is very ghetto looking as you can see, but what it shows is that with some better painting skills I could make a very decent one.

Obvoiusly all of the crappy painting on this one was done freehand and at an ungodly hour. Tommorow im going to attempt it with stencils.

The basic process is as follows.

1. Make a mold of the current emblem.
2. Fill the mold with plastic resin and catalyst.
3. Sand an polish the plastic piece till it has a glass like surface.
4. The tricky part, paint onto the back of it, as well as the sides (outer/front)

POtentially anything can be made with some skill, I got the plastic part down, and actually have two more pieces drying as a type this.

here is a pic of the ghetto prototype , just to get an idea of the potential:

yeah i know its pretty shitty looking , but I figure tommorow im going to not only paint a symbol on the back but also actually sort of have it embossed into the back.

This can be done with some sort of dremel tool im sure, or i could even figure out a way to emboss it into the plastic while its in the mold.

Also to get the mettalic trim looking better im going to obvoiusly stencil it on (w/ a mettalic silver/black enamel), and also cover it in clearcoat.

In the end it should look pretty sick.
