Default My first DRIFT experience!

Last night, I tried drifting on 90 degree turn and I was so embarrassed. Thank god no one was watching me since it was like 2 am. As soon as I thought the drifting has begun, my car went totally WOBBLY (like left and right) and I got out of it after 3 sec. Someone give me a good direction on how to drift.

ps. I was trying heel & toe and drift for the first time ever last night

drifting in the S is very difficult, and depending on: speed, the road make-up (cement, asphalt, mix of, etc), road temperature, ambient temperature, tire temperature, tire condition (treaded vs. flat), among a few other factors make it difficult to recommend a specific or particular "way" of drifting. 9 out of 10 times, the car will speed before it drifts...

keep that for the track... and if you were trying to heal-toe your baby, that's a whole separate can of worms...

More often than not, a FWD will "plow" through a turn before it drifts (read up on the understeer vs. oversteer effect)... Largely b/c the add'l weight on the front axle, but some newer FWD are so well engineered and balanced, you can drift under the right conditions and tire/suspension set up... The only FWD car I've managed to drift is the new RSX Type S...

Not on the streets, though... find a huge parking lot, then either visually map out a turn or use cones, and try it there... Don't call me for bail $ if the cops catch you, though...

IMHO, the s2k is not impossible to drift. Sounds like the first poster just overcorrected.

As to FF drifting... most hondas will respond to lift throttle. Or at worst, just stab the brakes and shift the balance. The ITR is an excellent drifter.

GameDev, nice vid.

It is not impossible to drift in the S. I did it two days ago just before stomping on an RSX and one other time. It just takes the right conditions and a good feel for the car. I don't have stock wheels or tires either so maybe it's more difficult with those.
