Default My first post

Hello everybody,

I'm a new S2000 owner. I just bought an 05 Silverstone from Carmax....Before that, I had an 02 Acura CL Type S and was a member of the Acurazine forum.

I have a couple of things I would like to share.

First, I have a question about the factory radio. Will the volume control and skip ahead button and mute button still function with an after market head unit ?

Secondly, I just installed Kodokan (sp) seat locks after reading all the horror stories of seat theft. While installing them, I discovered that the seats have pockets on the back. Does everybody on here know this already ? I kinda feel like I discovered another "secret compartment".

Finally, I have just purchased wheel locks for the wheels. Do people on here generally keep their wheel lock key in the car ? I kinda feel like this defeats the purpose of protecting the car, b/c a thief could break in and open the trunk and find the key. But if I keep the key at home, and I get a flat tire...I'm screwed.

Should I hide the key in the secret compartment ? What if some thief knows about the secret compartment...should I hide the key in the intake box instead?

Thanks everyone. This is my first post. And please don't flame me, I did a search first.

I keep my key in my trunk. I figure if someone wants just the wheels the lock will prevent that, but if their gonna break into the car then the wheel locks don't even matter, because they can just take the whole car.

If you change your head unit out for a Sony one of the Group Buy sellers "Modified" (I think that is how it is spelled) has a unit that will allow you to use the dash contols. There are some slight differances on their function, but for the most part they work well. You will need the Sony Head Unit that has an RCA plug in the back.

I always leave the glovebox locked so if you want to put it in the secret compartment, leave it locked.

Its actually Modifry, and his dci works for many brands. The Electronics forum and FAQs will have a ton of good info for you.
Sorry for the misinformation, however when I purchased mine I was told that I needed to use a Sony Head Unit if I wanted to use the dash radio controls with a hard wired installation.

I concur with Rob above, send us some good sushi recipes with samples of the finished product and we'll help. Until then...

The electronics forum can answer all of your questions on the HU stuff, but a Modifry DCI is best IMO.

As for the wheel locks, well I don't have any with my stock wheels, but I just keep the rays key in the glovebox or trunk depending on where I put it after switching wheels (switch them every month for autocrossing).
