My first time at 130 MPH
Driving back from the Central Valley this weekend on I-5, I got my S up to 130 MPH at around 7000 RPM in 6th gear. The road was completely empty with no one around and I wanted to go higher, but I started approaching off ramps about a mile ahead with cars and perhaps a CHP officer lurking.
What an adrenaline rush! It's almost like fear because you're getting away with something illegal and dangerous.
Now I've got a small taste of what race car drivers feel on the track. I can only imagine it at 200 MPH. I can see how speed can be addicting, and I'm beginning to understand why they would do it. It really is an amazing, powerful feeling.

There must be something about 130. Back when I was fearless, I took my Datsun 2000 up to 130, with more available, but I had had enough--similar feelings, really breaking the law, what if there's a cop, some one pulling onto the road, etc. Top down, baby! I've only had my S2K up to 95 (I know, pussy), but there will come the perfect time to open it up, as you've found.

gotta say, 130+ (138 or so for me) is pretty DAMN SCARY, top up or down. I think I've only gotten to 130 with the top down...I could be mistaken. All I know is, with the top down, it's LOUD as fugg. I don't know if I'll ever go that fast again. Crazy thing is, the car feels absolutely stable. The wind noise is what's scary, not the actual fact that you car is moving at crazy speeds.
