Default my impression on Spoon Exhaust. (long)

Tuesday: I was in GB about 2 weeks ago. checked shipping number and it should arrive tomorrow. I can't wait!! hee hee

Wednesday: aaaahhhhgg! That yellow ticket on my door says I just missed the shipment. I tried to call for pick up but no one in UPS is answering

Thursday: Waited patiently for entire day. I'm thinking that if I get it by 5:30, I still have time to go to shop and put it on.

5:30 pm: I got it! I got it! Open the box, took a look at it, hhmg? I think I need some bolts? called mingster, told him what happened, he is going to send me another set of bolts. - Always, good service. But do I wait for it to come? 'no way' I run to the shop thinking that this is last time I'm listening to stock pipe WOT all the way.

6:00 pm: arrived at the shop. arrrgh! there are cars in line to change oil!! mechaninc says, 'there isn't time to install this evening. but we'll measure up the pipe to see if it fits'

thursday night: came back with stock pipe. Can't sleep. shop opens 8:00 am. stayed 'til 4:00 am. zzz

Friday morning: I got up unusually early! took a shower. warm up the engine. It's unusually taking long due to cold morning.

8:15 am : arrive at the shop. the mechanic just finished his morning coffee. Yeah.. now we are installing. hee hee

8:40 am : finished installing without silencer. test drive. turn on the engine. I hear deep throaty sound. I already have big smile on my face. roll out. rev the engine. Damn, it's loud. car feels totally different. it feels lighter. change to 2nd gear, it spins rear tire. Is it due to power? or is it from cold tire.. who cares! I love it but it's little too loud. wait, did I hear ringing sound some where?

8:50 am : installed silencer. test drive 2. it's quieter. about 2 db. with this, I can wake up entirre neiborhood at same time, I can hear sound I never heard before. I red lined on 1st, 'sheeeek', I didn't know s2k had turbo?! I realized, it's the intake sound!! WOW. And as I slow down, I can hear gear sound like a gear box in toy car.

9:15 am : last inspection for leak. no leak. good. paid the guy and I'm off the lot!!

I noticed that, definately, car feels lighter. specially on rear end. start moving at lower rpm does not have lag. It just starts to go. Interesting thing is it is louder than stock but I can hear other parts sound as well such as intake & transmission.

- below 3000 rpm, it's quiet. it's also quiet when car is moving at constant speed.
- at 6000 rpm, it sounds almost like f1 car.
- I tried to do 7000 rpm launch. tires were slipping and I fish tailed. road must be cold.
- It might be reduced weight but I feel that car is faster and more resposive. ??? This part, I don't get it because it should happen when there's suspension change.
- Throttle response is also good. ??? Again, shouldn't this happen when I change flywheel?
- Feels like I'm having bump steering. I think it's due to lighter rear.
- On looks, driver side rear looks empty. In fact, when it's lifted, both side looks empty since muffler is much smaller than stock. It looks good but I wish they have a better tail pipe.

Over all, I love it. yet another money well spent!

thanks to spoon for great product, thanks to mingster for good service.

cheers!

BTW, The exhaust is quieter than stock from the outside with the silencer. You can only hear the engine noise.

Congrats on the purchase. The Spoon header makes the exhaust note more F1ish in VTEC!

I have to second what reecespieces said, its actually very quite outside the car even without the silencer. After I installed the exhaust I had some one drive it around so I could hear how loud it was out side the car because inside the car without the silencer it sounds like your inside the exhaust pipe. I live right by a very busy on ramp and this exhaust is much quiter outside the car than most after markets exhuasts and Harleys I hear going up the on ramp all the time. Nibble, if you get the chance, you have to let someone drive it around for you, I'll bet you will LOVE the sound ot side the car.

Yesterday, I had my friend rev the engine. It was first time since I changed to spoon. It really does sound better. I love this sound.

If you don't like the sound inside, you should try out side.
