Default my last post...to those who care

I think I've just had it. I have never been into the import scene on the internet. I have posted and been on many other boards and posted about cars I liked back when I owned my 1985 volvo 240. This board has been quite the eye opener. I have experienced quite a bit of racism and even more elitist attitudes on this board.

I have never figured out what it is about cars that makes grown people act like children, but I'm pretty much tired of it.

While, there are some great people on this board who post interesting, knowledable, unbiased info....most posts seem to center around looking cool and putting other opinions down. So, I will stick with the S2000, but I'm dumping this board. While, this board has more posts then most boards the amount of useful info just isn't worth finding in the tons of crap that is posted.

I know some people will say, "hey it is the internet...deal with it." I am dealing with it. I wasn't getting anything out of this board anymore so I'm done.

The car talk forum (which was one of my ideas for this board when i first got on here...not saying it was because of me they made it) sounded like it might be fun, but anything I have said about a certain car (Z06) has gotten nothing but flames. The tons of dumb street encounters posts and overall negativity have just gotten the best of me. So anyway to guys like ultimate lurker, jason saini (sp?), SEV, JT-KGY...and others...thanks for your great posts. And I will see you on the streets....l8r.
Erik
PS: NO use posting, "Stop being a baby!" or crap like that...cuz this is my last post.

Although I don't recall your posts or topics, it's sad to see one publically announce that they are leaving the board. Do what you need to do, but most of all, get in your car and drive! Take care.

Well it's a pity, but don't you see you're throwing the baby out with the bath water?. I daresay we've all got mad at some time at the unnecessary jibes, insults, and just downright rude and provocative replies our posts sometimes elicit. It IS the internet, (sorry), and as long as people can be who they want to be, you're going to get these problems. I suspect that some of the more vociferous of these posters would be the last people to say anything in an eyeball to eyeball confrontation.

As long as these people are outnumbered by the more civilized people here, why not just be a little more selective about what threads you get involved in? You don't have to read 'Street Encounters'

Let me get this straight... you're mad because people on this forum jump on you when you talk about how wonderful the Covette is. That's amazing that the S2000 forum isn't interested in the Z06... see where I'm going here? If that's really how you feel, why not just leave instead of posting? The fact is that there are alot of people that get alot out of this forum and contribute alot as well. It's one the best designed forums anywhere (thanks Cthree and others) and it has some great members. Like everything else in this world you have to take the bad with the good. If you don't like it and you want to leave... then leave don't talk down to the other people here. It's not their fault that you can't see past the bad to get to the good.

I've just joined the forum a few weeks ago and yes some of the postings and replies don't exactly embrace the notion of respect for other opinions. There is definitely some elitism?sp here but on the whole the board/forum postings are pretty darn good. There are just a few occasions where it seems that threads degenerate into stereotyping, or insults, etc.

...and when something bothers me I just click the button on my mouse and move on...

Sorry to hear you are going away. One thing for sure, you will be hard pressed to find another source of such great knowledgeable S2000 information and opinions!

If that wasn't a post for attention, then I don't know what is. I think its pretty sad that someone has to announce that they are leaving.
