Default My New MY05 the last production year

I just traded my 2001 Formula Red S for a MY05. I asked our sales guy if he could order a Grand Prix White. He said that he couldn't as the MY05 was the last year of production. He was emphatic that an '06 would not be produced.

It didn't really make any difference anyway as my wife fell in love with the yellow pearl. And if Mama ain't happy..... So we now have a beautiful yellow pearl S.

The ride is definitely softer and the rear end is much less twitchy. I'll have to dedide about accelleration after the new one is past break in.

Have any of our well connected members heard anything similar in regards to Honda ceasing production of the S?

You were tricked.

The salesman wanted to sell you the car right then and not later.

That line has been in the "Salesman's Guide to Selling the S2000 on your Lot" since '99

There is going to be a MY06 model? Hmm.....I could just cancel the deal. I didn't actually sign any paperwork although the car is in my garage. ( I buy a lot of cars at this dealership)

I would still want the car and the price I got was good, but if the sales guy lied.....well that might just tick me off enough to cancel the deal.

Honestly no one knows. Honda is great at keeping secrets.

But I can assure you that the salesman just wanted to sell you the car.

NEVER trust a saleperson on issues like this. He doesn't have a clue as to the status of the S2000 for next year. There have been rumors "every" year of the S2000's production that "that" year was going to be the last.

Besides, most of the time, this forum has more accurate information on various aspects of the S2000 than most dealers do. Sometimes it seems like the dealer is the last one to find out.

Congrats on the new car anyway!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Is there any definitive way to find out if there is another model year?

The GM of this dealership has tried hard in the past to please me after they screwed up on some service issues. He even went so far as to allow me to trade in a '05 CRV we had kept for 2 weeks on a '05 Pilot. We had already signed the paperwork and completed the transaction, but they were able to stop it (paper work) in route and allow us to trade up to a Pilot with no depreciation.

It doesn't really matter....except that if I complain to the GM about this, I may end up with a few freebies. Assuming I keep the car.

Actually I know we'll end up keeping it as we cross shcpped the Mustang GT convertible and the Z convertible. There was no comparison. The Z was very heavy and much more GT oriented.....and way more expensive. The Mustang interior was a major turnoff. Too chintzy to be believed. I can't believe that the same company that made the beautiful interior on my F150 made the Mustang.

I didn't read the whole thread but I recommend you go back and get the car you want........NOT the car that's on their lot.
