Default My S is a Bird Poop Magnet!

<sigh>

I made the mistake of leaving bird poop on my car and letting it dry...and then tried to take it off without properly saturating it and carefully lifting it off... I scrubbed, and found that the clearcoat had been destroyed and my aggressive scrubbing left scratches around the damaged area... <sigh>...

Anyway, I don't take my car out all that often... It sits in the garage all the time... This morning I took it out for a quick trip to the shopping mall...I was out for about an hour... When I came back to my car in the parking lot... Yup...bird poop on my soft top AND the trunk lid...

Came home and properly washed it...fortunately, it wasn't sitting long, and I got it off without any problems...

All that said, I just simply cannot seem to take my car out of the garage without getting hit by acidic bird poop!!! Drives me crazy... Argh!!!

OK... I have vented enough...

A shiny S is a MAGNET for bird poop. Once on the way to Key West I washed it after 8 hours of driving and put the top down on the highway. Let's just say I still thank God everyday that the bird missed my head because over half of my windshield was not so lucky. It was a dropping so large I thought I hit the bird itself.

This was just the worst of many incidents I've experienced over the years. Now I accept the risk (and certainty) that if I wash the car, a dropping is not too far :-)

So I have this theory. There must be something to the plethora of anecdotal evidence of increased bird poop on cars freshly washed/polished.

My theory is birds do a lot of flying back and forth to their nests. They don't want to alert predators where to find some helpless chicks. So they dont want to leave an obvious trail of poop that leads the way. So they instinctively want to poop over water to hide the trail. A shiny car, to a bird in flight, must look a lot like a large puddle of water...
