Ask Dark_Sub_Rosa, he had an '04 bumper painted with no blending. Anybody who wasn't blind could tell.

Sebring is not difficult to match. I dropped off an unpainted new bumper at Ed Morse Auto Body in West Palm (also a Honda Dealer) and they painted it without even seeing my car. I've looked at it in bright sunlight very closely, and I absolutely couldn't see any difference in shade, tone, etc. It was perfect.

How bad can it be not being blended?

Very noticeable, or only noticeable to someone who knows what to look for....
I agree with the others who have said to get it blended. Having aftermarket paint on the car is a very minimal concern compared to the possibility of paint that doesn't match.

That having been said, sebring silver is one of the easier colors to match (far easier than something like yellow), so if you're going to take the risk, then well, you've got one of the better colors to do it with.

Ultimately, it's your car and your risk, so it's up to you how to proceed. I would get it blended without a moment's hesitation. In fact, my car is also sebring silver and was hit several years ago, and I had it blended. You absolutely cannot tell that it was in an accident unless you have one of those devices that measures paint thickness.

It's not impossible, but you'd be leaving it up to chance. And I'd say the chances of an exact match are pretty slim.

It's like this. The new body panel probably isn't going to have perfectly matched paint either way. But with blending, that difference won't be as noticeable to the eye because the contrast is greatly diminished.

So, it's not really a question of whether the new paint will match. It's a matter of how the paint as a whole will be perceived.

Thanks Cyber X... You really bring up some valid points.....

This whole situation just sucks!

I also look at it as, once the paint gets blended, that's just more of my car that is a different shade than the rest of it.....

Hopefully I'll come across an OEM painted Fender one of these days!

Not to be a dick, but what do you have against blending? I'm not well versed in paint, so I guess I'm wondering what the huge downside to blending is.

My main thing is having all that extra paint on my car. The value of it will be shot to hell! By only getting the fender painted, it atleast gives me the oppurtunity to find a used fender already painted Sebring Silver from a junkyard or something like that. I know there is even a chance of that not matching, but I guess I'm willing to risk it.....

Just hat the idea of the body shop having to mess with my door and hood, when they are already flawless....
