So I was going through this left-hander pretty fast. I can't remember if I was in VTEC or not, but pretty close. Anyways, I lost the back end. Since I haven't been in that situation before with a RWD, I wasn't able to recover. I pretty much went back and forth with it a few times, and then the back-right wheel came to rest on the curb. Of course it bent in the rim and the axle. Fortunately, there is no body damage that I can see. Also, no other cars were involved. Just me and the curb

My guesses are that I should have been constant with the throttle and just steered to the right a little as it slid to the right. I can't remember how close I was to the right-hand curb, so it may have been inevitable anyways.

It is being towed to the Honda place right now. Any tips on what all needs to be examined by the mechanics...or what I need to have them check and double-check?

I'll be hating life for the next few weeks...

Same thing happened to my old man, it's going to be expensive (3 Grand); the tire and rim is already 900.00 per honda. Then you got a bearings, control arms, etc. Hope your deducatble is low! Sorry!

Yeah, fortunately it is at $250. I'm just worried my rates are gonna jump way up, but we'll see.

That's not too bad. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Since I'm 25 and married I don't expect TOO much of a hit. Chalk it up to a hard lesson learned. Thank God no other cars were involved and no one was hurt!

OK, got the estimate back yesterday. The car should be done tommorrow, but we'll see.
Items being replaced:
tire, Wheel, wheel hub, knuckle, rear backing plate, rear suspension crossmember (part of the subframe?), lower control arm.
It's also getting a 4-wheel alignment.
