Angry My Sad S2000 story!

Hey guys and girls what's going on? I thought you might like to hear my story hopefully some of you will have some good advice for me. Anyway last week I had the day off and my friend and I decided to go for a cruise. He has a 2002 black Z06 and my car is a 2004 Silverstone S. His car was garaged up at his grandfathers house in Rockaway NJ about a 15 minute trip for us. So he hops in and we are off. We took the interstate 80 heading east as it is the quickest way to go. Now be it I have not drove my car much recently since of all the cold weather and I have a beater so right away I'm missing my car and start to really get into really driving it. I'm not sure about the rest of you but when I'm driving fast and hard I don't pay much attention to the speedo. To make a long story short my friend yells "Oh Shit!" and I look in my rearview and see a State Trooper like right on my ass about 2 feet off my bumper. I pull over and the trooper pulls over on the right side of my car on the grass and yells "110 are you kidding me!" I knew I was screwed right there. He handed me back my insurance card and PBA card and comes back 20 minutes later with 4 tickets for me. 1) For 110 in a 65 2) Reckless 3) Failure to signal 4) Unsafe lane change. Now be it I know I was a dumb ass for going that fast I give no excuses for my action but I'm trying to actually go for a police job and losing my license is not something I need. I know I was stupid I just don't want to ruin my future over one dumb stunt. You guys know this car and driving it only gets better as the revs go higher and its really hard to drive 50mph in this car. I already went to a lawyer and he is going to take the case but does anyone have any other ideas????? Please help......

Impulsive, easily distracted, lack of attention to detail, not aware of your surroundings, don't take responsibilty... you'd make a great policeman

The lawyer is your best bet - probably you'll end up with some fines, some non-moving violations, and maybe probation or school., but nothing like what the trooper handed you.

Next time, pay attention to what you're doing - if you didn't notice the cop until he was on your bumper, you were driving recklessly and not paying enough attention to driving.

Damn, that really sucks. I hope everything works out for you, but maybe this will teach you a lesson that you shouldn't drive that fast. This should be the worst thing that happens to you, what if you would have gotten a blow out at that speed or if a car switched into your lane? I know I sound like your grandmother right now, but I just hope that you learn from this that with all of the BS that you will have to go threw now with a lawyer and fighthing the tickets, paying higher insurance, etc. and see that its really not worth it to drive that fast. With that being said I hope that you can get the tickets removed or atleast have them reduce the speed/penalty of them. Good luck with clearing everything up

With those qualifications, maybe he should consider politics instead of law enforcement.

I'm thinking it should teach him the lesson that he should signal his lane changes.....

yeah you're really not going to get much sympathy for going 110...you not only endangered your life, but your friend's and other people on the road.
Having said that, lawyer's the best way to go to not lose your license...you're still prolly going to get at least 2 points and your insurance will go up
best of luck to you, I really hope things do work out.....and good luck with being a cop, they really don't get much respect for the work they do.

Funny how people are only concerned about this AFTER they get caught/have an accident.
