Default My top was slashed, but...

My top was slashed last night, but I already have one as a replacement. (Cabrio world stayfast canvas w/ glass and defrost) I was planning on replacing this top already b/c the back plastic had cracks.

Should I A: just put this top on and throw away the slashed one.
or B: Call insurance and get the $$ for the top and sell this one/return it.

What would you do?

(Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in, it seemed to be right.)

It's a good question, I would find out if your premium will increase after you submit the claim and go from there.

The biggest considerations are 1. deductable and 2. premium increase. If you can return the top you bought, and if your deductable is considerably less than the price of the top, you probably should do that. I'm not sure how to quantify the increase in your premium, maybe some people here with some insurance experience can comment on that.

Claim it! Unless you have a lot of claims to begin with.

your insurance premium should not go up if you make a comprehensive claim

Your premium will not go up with a vandalism claim. See if you can work out a deal with an installer and pocket the cash (approx. $1600) you won't be laying down for a new factory softtop.

OEM tops are expensive. Pocket the extra money.

See, the kool part is I already have the one top....I saw a guy two days ago selling the same one 800 shipped and had tons of people interested....$1600+$775 or so = mod time. I could get a new top for $450 from someone I know if I didn't want a hard top and I'd be left w/ plenty. (My S is near stock, so this kind of works out well for the broke college kid = ] )

What to do...what to do...
