MY00 to MY06
I've had a MY00 for ages and i've been shopping for a new car. I wanted something as fun as the S2 but driveable year around as I only drove the S during the summer. Babied MY00 with 45k, hate to see it go but I can't drive it in the winter.
Can't seem to find anything else comparable. 135i? It's going to be really common. New M3? Kinda fat and costs quite a bit more. New TT looks nice but I don't trust Audi. Miata is too slow. SLK's are all auto and have no sporting soul anyways.
I'm leaning towards an 06+ AP2 even though they are selling for 27-35k CDN (msrp here is 50!). Before I buy it, anyone else make the switch from the S2 to another vehicle and left satisfied without regrets?

If you couldn't drive the MY00 through the winter, I gotta wonder why the MY06 would be any different?
Perhaps if you let us know why you couldn't drive the S2000 in the winter, we could give some better advice about a possible replacement...

Well I live in Canada. Sometimes the snow gets really high, even with winter tires it's difficult and dangerous at times to drive around.
MY00 had no TCS, no rear defroster and I didn't get a hardtop.

I've got a MY06 in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was very surprised--in the winter with snow tires, it did noticeably better than my wife's AWD Element did on all-seasons. I usually hear S2000+TCS+Blizzak > 4WD+all-seasons. TCS is a wonderful thing!
It's kind of sad, but if you want a convertible sports car, there isn't much better, even after 9 years. I test drove a sky red line before I looked at the aged S2000, and I bought the S2000 without a second thought.
If you're thinking of changing directions, there are plenty of good cars out there, but I don't think any of them really beat the S2000 in it's niche and at it's price point. If reliability is important, the Miata and the Elise are the most comparable cars IMO.

Miata and Elise are more reliable than the s2000? I thought the S2000 was just as reliable, and i didnt think the elise would be that reliable, even though it has toyota sourced engine, its a "tuned" version...?
