friend is thinking of buying it. service history is complete and good. new clutch installed. what should he be wary of?

U-joints,CV joints,calipers and pads,shocks,shock mounts,suspension bushings,fuel pump,battery age,alternator,ignition coils,water pump,belts,hoses,check to see if the cabin filter was ever changed,tail light fade,matched tires(manufacturer)

Yes but I'm sure they were all highway miles and it was actually the owner's wife who drive it and it was never driven in the rain and it was garage kept.

I'm sad to see it sell for $8k, but also pleased to know that there could be a track S2000 in my future.

I don't think there's anything to worry about that's S2000 specific - look at the same things you would on ANY 120k mile car, like a Corolla or Civic. Definitely make sure engine, transmission and diff oils have beenn changed at proper intervals.

Actually, I can think of some things, because a 120k Corolla likely never saw track duty. Meaning, check the rubber boots on the brake calipers, and the CV joint boots too. They could have degraded due to high heat. Check the front upper A-arm brackets for both sides. Check for brake pad and rotor wear as well. That's about it, though.
