Default MY04 colours (for the UK)

My local dealer sent me the chart below for the 04 colours. We don't actually get the first shipment of 04s over here until January, but they're taking orders now.

He wasn't sure whether the "New Indy Yellow" is any different to the current one (although common sense would suggest that it is, otherwise the name is a bit daft ) and, if so, whether it's the same as the Rio Yellow Pearl you get in the US.

Could I ask a favour of anyone who has access to a Rio Yellow 04? Could you have a look to see whether the paint code matches that on the chart? There are people on the UK board who are keen to find out whether we're getting Rio Yellow!

I suspect that it's probably just a naming change, in the same way as the colour you know as Suzuka Blue is called Nurburgring Blue in the UK.

Thanks!

Nope - we've never had white in the UK (or Europe as a whole for that matter, I think). It's only available as a JDM-import.

Are these color selections specific to the UK, or does this apply to the entire European market?

I still don't understand why we only receive a subset of the available colors in the US. Do they just figure "those colors won't sell in the US, so we won't offer them." Our market is pretty big, so I don't know why it would hurt them so much to remain consistent with Europe. They obviously have a distribution system worked out in Europe to accomodate the "less popular" colors like Green and Orange, so why can't something similar be done here?

I'm wondering if they have just three categories of cars coming off their lines: Japanese market, North American Market, and "Everything else." Maybe they figure that the "Everything else" covers so many different corners of the world that they can't predict what colors will be preferred. Therefore they have to offer everything. Oh yeah, what about Canada?

Historically, the same colours have been available in Europe as in the UK, Brian - I don't think Honda differentiates between the two. It would make most sense for Europe to be one market.

The three premium colours introduced earlier this year (Monza Red Pearl, Imola Orange Pearl and Lime Green) all cost an additional

You'll are lucky to get the Moonrock and the Monza Red Pearl.

I wonder why you'll don't get Grand Prix White or Platinum White Pearl? Interesting.

Isn't Moonrock just the same as our Silverstone, and the European Silverstone is the same as our Sebring? That's what I assumed, but I may be wrong.

Also the lack of white is really baffling. I would think that Honda would want to offer white in all markets out of national pride, since I believe it's their traditional racing color, right?

No - we've never had Sebring over here. Silverstone is the same in the UK as in the US as in Japan. Moonrock is definitely darker - it's more like a gun-metal grey, judging from the Honda Japan website.

The absence of white could well be to do with the fact that white cars traditionally don't sell very well in the UK. I guess they don't look quite as good in our rather cloudy climate as they do in the sunshine of Florida or California!

I'm pretty sure Moonrock is different than Silverstone but I could be wrong.

From the pictures I've seen it looks deeper and darker almost bordering on Berlina.
